Since 1971, the Chicago Architecture Foundation has been offering walking tours of the downtown Loop area. Since then, it’s also added myriad other options, including docent-led experiences by boat, bicycle, bus, and Segway. The boat tour includes a journey along the Chicago River, highlighting many historic landmarks, while walking tours enable visitors to actually enter some of the city’s architecturally significant buildings. In total, more than 85 tour options are led by well-trained Chicagoan volunteers.
