Chelsea
The Red Cat
New York, NY, 10011, United States
Sister restaurant to the Harrison, this Chelsea hotspot was established by chef Jimmy Bradley in 1999. Red and white barn siding lines the interior, where wooden furniture and vibrant local art are illuminated by large hanging lanterns. Created by executive chef Bill McDaniel, the New American menu includes such signatures as tempura-battered green beans with sweet hot mustard and sautéed skate with caramelized cauliflower, capers, and red pepper agrodolce (Italian sweet and sour sauce). The bar serves inventive cocktails as well as more than 125 wines. Ideal for small group dining, the Red Cat’s atmosphere is typically loud and lively.
Insider Tip:
The restaurant is located within a five-minute walk of Chelsea’s renowned art galleries, such as the Gagosian, making it an excellent choice for lunch during an afternoon of gallery-hopping.
