Worth the short drive to Sullivan's Island, this bright little sweet shop churns out dreamy artisanal gelato and sorbets using locally sourced ingredients. Pastry chef Caroline Sherman studied at a gelato university (yes, there is such a thing) in Bologna, Italy, to prepare for this gig. Strawberries, blackberries, and peaches make their seasonal rotations, but those in the know swear by the subtly rich olive oil sea salt gelato. Beardcat's also offers muffins, scones, and housemade sandwiches, so it's a great place to grab a bite en route to the ocean.
