La Vaquería de Suiza
Housed in a former dairy, La Vaquería de Suiza (The Swiss Dairy) smartly changed nothing about the original structure, with its unfinished cement floors and soaring 19th-century glass double doors, but added mismatched rough-hewn wood tables and chairs. The lunch-only eatery bustles with servers delivering fresh salads—made from arugula, spinach, or simply tomatoes and goat cheese—and takes on traditional Spanish fare, like jamón Serrano on tostadas, toasts made of hearty country bread. Indeed, the tostadas are all excellent: piled liberally with ham or Manchego cheese. The vibe is cool and energetic without being rudely exclusive: it’s a crowd of beautiful people impressed you found them.
Arrive before 2 p.m. to avoid the lunch rush.
