Prince Ignazio V was a Renaissance man in the mid-1700's and modeled his palace to follow suit. Throughout the hundreds of rooms, a rococo spirit lavishly expresses itself in stucco walls, gilt framing, limestone sculpture, ebony walls, and frescoes by Sebastiano Lo Monaco. Today, the private apartments attract a steady stream of tourists, while the ballroom hosts conferences and celebrations. One lucky person can even rent the one set of private quarters, but only for longer stays. Ignazio’s obsession with archeology also makes the palace museum a hot spot for students and enthusiasts.
