Market Lunch
Washington, DC, 20003, United States
TEL: (202) 698-5253
Located in Capitol Hill’s Eastern Market, Market Lunch is famous for its Blue Buck pancakes, a combination of blueberry and buckwheat that is only available on Saturday mornings and attracts sizable crowds. Lunch on less-crowded weekdays doesn’t possess the same fanatical following but is still quite popular. The main lunch attraction is the seafood selection, including shrimp, oysters, and crab cakes, all fried. The small restaurant has a single, long table, fostering conversation among strangers, and a few additional, small tables, so seating can be a bit limited, especially when it's busy.
Insider Tip:
Don’t ask a member of your party to reserve a seat while you stand in line and wait for your food. This practice is not something the staff (or your fellow patrons) look kindly upon.
