Distinguished as the only urban winery in South Africa, Signal Hill is housed in a two-story, colonial-style white stucco building dating back to 1771. A rustic stone façade marks the entrance to the tasting room, which contains small wooden tables and walls lined with bottles of the proprietary wine. Signal Hill specializes in small-batch wines made with rare varietals, including the acclaimed Eszencia—the highest-rated South African wine on the American market. Other options include a Petit Verdot, a Pinot Noir, and the winery’s signature white: the barrel-fermented Grenache Blanc. Tastings may also include cheese platters, fresh sushi, or tapas.
