This sumptuous Belle Époque original was built in 1897 with half-moon balconies and caryatid columns and then refurbished in 2001 as the city’s first four-star boutique hotel. The 34 rooms are done in a cozy Provençal style and come with modern amenities (Fragonard bath products), but the hotel also echoes the Côte d’Azur’s glory days (a vintage 1920s elevator in a Carrara marble stairwell). The owners, Christine and Guy Welter, provide personal yet luxe touches like solicitous service, valet parking, free Wi-Fi, access to a private beach, and a free happy hour for guests.
Room to Book:
Splurge on a grandiose Rotonde room at the "prow" of this wedge-shaped building for high, ornate ceilings, king beds, parquet floors, and light-filled "winter garden" bathrooms.
Insider Tip:
If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room at the rear of the hotel overlooking Rue Léopold Bucquet. The hotel's location on a shop-lined major boulevard has its heart-of-the-action benefits, but also its (noisy) drawbacks.
