While this tiny outdoor spot gained its fame from its large, overstuffed California-style burritos, the tacos are always a smart choice, too. Here, diners personalize their own tacos by selecting everything from their type of tortilla, to the meat, toppings, and salsas inside.
This small and laid-back taco joint has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a convenient location in the center of the Hotel Zone. After a day of shopping or sightseeing, post up at one of the yellow gingham tables with the fried chicken tacos and an order of sweet, custardy flan.
This casual fish taco place has several Cancun locations in downtown and the Hotel Zone. Los de Pescado has become a popular choice for locals and tourists alike thanks to its cheap prices and delicious shrimp or fish tacos, ceviches, and burritos with a wide variety of salsas to choose from.
La Parrilla has earned fame as one of Cancun’s most iconic restaurants, located in the downtown area on Avenida Yaxchilan.
Whether you’re looking for a midday feast or late-night tacos after leaving the club, Taco Factory has you covered. This open-air taco joint has an unbeatable location in Punta Cancun’s nightclub district, and is known for do-it-yourself presentation.
Rumored to have the best ceviche in town, Cocos and Grill is a restaurant and beach club in the northern part of the Hotel Zone. In addition to some excellent seafood and steaks, it also offers a pool and loungers so you can enjoy a relaxing beach day after a mouthwatering lunch.
This upscale seafood restaurant has a breathtaking location on Nichupte Lagoon in the Cancun Hotel Zone, offering amazing views of the water from its outdoor terrace. Crab House serves a variety of seafood, including lobster, several kinds of crab, calamari, shrimp, fish, and much more.
It would unforgiveable to leave this restaurant off the list. It is hands down the most popular seafood restaurant for Cancun locals, although it's so far out of the main tourist area that I only recommend it for those who know Downtown Cancun very well.
Location, location, location! One of Cancun's most famous restaurants, Lorenzillo's sits on a large pier over Nichupte Lagoon in the heart of the Hotel Zone. It has indoor dining, an outdoor terrace with lovely views, and even a wine cellar.
Fish Fritanga is not only my personal favorite, the restaurant gets top billing in my book for two reasons. First, it serves the most authentic Mexican seafood that I’ve ever found in Cancun.
Casitas is the best restaurant for a romantic evening in Cancun, with private cabanas situated right on the beach at the Ritz-Carlton hotel. The upscale menu features a variety of steaks and seafood, but the oceanfront location is what makes this restaurant truly amazing.
Casa Rolandi has the best lagoon views in Cancun, especially at sunset when the sky turns amazing shades of orange, and at lunchtime when the water turns bright blue.
This Italian restaurant is a hidden gem tucked away on a small side street in the Hotel Zone. Here, you’ll find classic Italian cuisine and friendly service, but the ocean view is the real focal point.
Set right on the lagoon at La Isla Shopping Village, this elegant restaurant serves mouthwatering Indian cuisine in an open-air setting.
Located at the beautiful La Isla Shopping Village, Thai Lounge is known as Cancun’s most beautiful restaurant. Here, each table is situated in a private cabana in the garden area or over the lagoon, creating an exotic tropical ambiance.
