Great cocktails, Secret or underground

The hidden-bar-within-a-bar configuration—a set of unmarked steel doors in the back lead to a second space—amplifies 878’s cloak-and-dagger vibe. This speakeasy in the Villa Crespo area has been around long before the current trend (and before the neighborhood became the new hotspot). Mixologist and sommelier Julián Díaz’s mission has always been to serve the best drinks and dishes in an inclusive environment—there’s no dress code here. Both rooms serve a mean Cynar Julep, a house favorite that’s at once bitter and slightly sweet; oenophiles will appreciate his carefully crafted wine list. Pop by for a cocktail and stay for dinner. Goat’s cheese provoleta and the lamb-burger are sure-fire wins.
