Initially a tiny bar, this stylish bistro that's popular with locals now occupies an expansive space in Budapest's hopping 5th District. Attracting students, ex-pats, and upscale natives, Cafe Kor feels pleasantly Mediterranean in its orange hues and bentwood furnishings. (The interior decor inspires such devotion there was formal protest when the proprietors recently installed AC vents.) The menu favors fare lighter than is typical in Central Europe: the carpaccio, steamed leg of veal, and grilled ewe-cheese salad receive consistently high marks from the natives.
