Central Market Hall
A great place to stroll whether shopping or not, this massive and appealing 1896 structure is the largest indoor marketplace in Budapest. Designed by Samu Pecz with a colorful Zsolnay tile roof, Central Market Hall spans three stories (and a good portion of a city block) at the Pest end of Liberty ;Bridge. The market's main-floor offerings are eclectic, ranging from produce to pastries to spices, even caviar. The second floor has restaurants and souvenir stands, along with a legendary food stand serving the local deep-fried snack, lángos.
To experience the market at its emptiest, visit on a Monday morning.
