Things to do in Budapest

Budapest is a city filled with treasures where you’ll find the best of old and new rubbing shoulders. A great place to start your exploration is at Hero’s Square, also known as Hősök tere. With the Palace of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts close by, it’s an ideal place to begin looking for great things to do in Budapest. In the center of the square, you’ll find the Millennium Monument, which pays tribute to the military heroes of Hungary.

Budapest is also famous for its Opera House (The Hungarian State Opera House), which is regarded as one of the most beautiful and accomplished in Europe. And while the Opera won’t appeal to most children, the Children’s Railway, staffed by children under adult supervision, probably will!

Other popular things to do in Budapest include taking river cruises on the Danube, walking tours of the picturesque Castle Hill, and walking across Chain Bridge, the first bridge to connect Buda to Pest, and thus the birthplace of Budapest. Hungary’s Parliament Building is an architectural jewel and for some real jewels explore the Váci utca shopping district. After a long day, wind down in one of Budapest’s famous hot spring spas.
