Hotel Metropole

31 Place de Brouckere
Brussels, B-1000, Belgium
TEL: 32-2-217-2300

Though some may argue the Belgian capital is on the cusp of a design and style revolution, history continues to resonate from icons like the Hotel Metropole, which occupies a late 18th-century Belle Époque structure with public spaces that feature gilded cornices and sweeping archways. Many of the 298 guest rooms have private balconies that open to Brussels’ gabled, Gothic, and modern rooftops. Cartisane Décor Cy designed the rooms in either the Art-Deco or Louis XIV style and furnished them with era-specific pieces, sumptuous burgundy and apricot hued fabrics, and original art. The hotel’s restaurant, L'Alban Chambon, serves traditional French fare in an Italian Baroque-inspired setting, complete with stained glass windows that give a rosy tint to the cobblestoned streets just beyond the entrance.

Room to Book:

The Toscanini Suite was named in honor of conductor Arturo Toscanini, once a frequent guest, and has a Jacuzzi, as well as a collection of floral tapestries handcrafted by Belgian artisans.

Insider Tip:

At Bar Le 31, an Art Nouveau-style bar decorated with colorful frescoes and soaring marble columns, enjoy live piano on Tuesday and Thursday evenings while sampling single-malt whiskies imported from Scotland and Ireland.
