Located across the East River from Manhattan, this Mexican restaurant is known for its rooftop terrace with views of the Statue of Liberty, Governor’s Island, and the Manhattan skyline. Built in 2002, Alma's three-floored space includes brick walls, brightly colored mosaics, and stained glass artwork. In addition to a large selection of rotating tequilas, the restaurant also serves brunch favorites such as chilaquiles (tortillas with salsa and cheese) and steak and eggs. Dinner entrees include classics with a twist, such as fish tacos with chipotle aioli, and stuffed peppers with short ribs and Gouda, finished in a yellow mole sauce.

Insider Tip:

The terrace does not accept reservations so come early to increase the chance of scoring a coveted rooftop seat.
