Big Bear Lake
Bear Mountain Resort
Big Bear Lake, CA, 92315, United States
Southern California’s most popular ski and snowboarding resort resides in San Bernardino National Forest, southwest of Big Bear Lake. All four peaks—accessible via 12 lifts—rise above 8,000 feet elevation, and Geronimo offers the most challenging runs (near chair #8). Snowboarders flock to the mountain for the freestyle park's rails, boxes, walls, and pipes. The 748-acre Bear Mountain is open at night on Fridays and Saturdays from the end of November through the beginning of March. In summer, the mountain becomes home to biking, hiking, and golf. Resort dining includes the golf course’s Club House Grill, which focuses on sandwiches.
Insider Tip:
The Serrano Indians named Big Bear Valley for the animal they most respected, the grizzly bear, but now, the only grizzlies reside inside Moonridge Animal Park.
