Manhattan hotelier Jason Pomeranc couldn’t have picked a more incongruous spot—a former Best Western—for his third West Coast outpost. But at the Thompson Beverly Hills, the Dodd Mitchell–designed interiors (vertical smoked mirrors; chocolate leather walls; spherical chrome lamps) have a 70’s-style bachelor-pad flair. Glossy black, dimly lit hallways showcase oversize Steven Klein photographs. The rooftop pool has peepholes along its sides. After dark, the scene revolves around the open-air nightspot, ABH, which serves up sushi from the hotel restaurant, Bond Street, alongside a 360-degree panorama of L.A.
