Schlosshotel im Grunewald

10 Brahmsstrasse
Berlin, 14193, Germany
TEL: 49 30 895-840

Set far from the city center in the exclusive enclave of Grunewald (which borders the Grunewald Forest, once hunting grounds for the royal family), this former private palace is an oasis of luxury. Built in 1912 by Dr. Walter von Pannwitz, a confidant of Kaiser Wilhelm, the stunning villa has been meticulously restored by the same team that revamped Potsdam’s famous Sanssouci castle. With interior design by German fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld, common spaces are jaw-dropping tableaux of dark wood, gold-leafed stucco, and jewel-toned silk; ceilings are hung with wrought-iron chandeliers, and halls are lined with antique mirrors. Lagerfeld’s touch is also evident in the 53 guest rooms and suites, which are adorned with period paintings, French antiques, and luxury fabrics. The property boasts a spa with an indoor pool, a series of expansive, beautifully landscaped gardens, and a restaurant occupying the room where the kaiser once dined.

Room to Book: The Library Suite, which occupies an aerie on the top floor, with vaulted ceilings, views of the garden, and its own fireplace.

Insider Tip:

Bring your running shoes; there are lovely trails that wind through the Grunewald Forest.
