Despite being designed to within an inch of its life, the décor of Berlin’s Q! hotel displays a coherence that’s admirable. With sleek, Clockwork Orange–like white paneling and psychedelic angles and juxtapositions (bathtubs fused to beds, for example), the hotel makes a point of announcing its mod personality at every opportunity. The design (by the ultrahip Graft, known for its work for Brad Pitt) deploys lots of indirect lighting and beautiful bent-veneer accents that flow into benches and onto the floor, in an abundance of clean, curvy lines.
