Vik's Chaat Corner
Berkeley, CA, 94710, United States
Vik's Chaat Corner makes each of its street-food-style Indian dishes daily—be it the handmade samosas or the lunch-special dosas (vegetarian lentil crêpes). The eatery opened as a food stand within a shop in 1989, and then set up in a warehouse-like dining room before moving to its present location in 2009. Order puris (puffed semolina), like the dahi batata puri dolloped with tamarind chutney and yogurt, or the pani puri stuffed with potato, chickpeas, and a hot chili sauce. Diners either use their fingers to eat, or grab a spork—a spoon-fork combination.
Insider Tip:
You can pick up Indian spices at the neighboring grocery market.
