Twin Farms
Just north of Woodstock in southeast Vermont, Twin Farms is an all-inclusive resort set on the former estate of Sinclair Lewis and his wife, journalist Dorothy Thompson. Surrounded by woodlands and wildflower meadows, the 300-acre resort has 10 suites—most of which include American folk art and wood-burning fireplaces—and 10 private, freestanding cottages. The cottages are individually decorated and may include stone terraces, 18th-century limestone floors, and living rooms with fireside hot tubs. Twin Farms also provides customized meals with wine pairings, and a wide range of outdoor activities, such as hiking, fishing, and downhill skiing on private trails.
Room to Book:
Some cottage fireplaces create a noticeable smoky smell, so avoid cottages with bedroom fireplaces.
Insider Tip:
If you plan to be off the property during the day, make sure to request a gourmet boxed lunch to take with you.
