Named for the expansive pecan trees lining this trendy section of Barton Springs Road, Shady Grove's patio area provides coverage from the hot Texas sun. When weather discourages outdoor dining, there are tables available inside the cozy, patchwork-stone building, which is modeled after a 1940's forest ranger station. The menu has a mix of uncomplicated nostalgic dishes like meatloaf and chicken-fried steak, as well as offbeat Tex-Mex plates like tortilla-fried queso catfish and green chile cheese fries.
