La Condesa

With La Condesa in Austin's trendy Warehouse District, chef Rene Ortiz brings traditional flavors of the interior of Mexico to Texas. Don't expect Tex-Mex. Instead, look for lavish renderings of the types of dishes one might find in the kitchens of Mexico City's upscale Condesa district, the restaurant's namesake, such as trout ceviche and duck with mole sauce. The sleek, angular dining room is highlighted by web-patterned hanging lightbulbs, a colorful pastel mural, and a floating staircase that descends into the middle of the room.
