Toy Joy
Toy Joy is an unconventional toy store offering a wide array of knick-knacks and tchotchkes, the crown jewel of which is its sizeable Sanrio Hello Kitty toy collection. The red and yellow storefront occupies a corner on Guadalupe Street (known as The Loop), which runs along the western edge of the University of Texas campus. Given the location, it’s not surprising that Toy Joy is popular with undergraduates looking for ironic thrills. Unlike most toy stores, the laid-back staff at Toy Joy will not object to in-store sampling of the toys. An on-site cafe offers vegan soft serve ice cream and bubble tea.
