Ruta Maya
Austin, TX, United States
This coffee shop, which now distributes coffee to grocery stores throughout the state, was founded in Austin in 1990 with its “world headquarters” now on trendy South Congress Avenue. Ruta Maya sources its beans from a collective in the Mexican state of Chiapas that grows its beans using ancient, organic methods. The company then roasts the beans on-site, resulting in the rich aroma that lingers over the shop. Besides coffee, Ruta Maya also serves beer and even offers free yoga, tai chi, and salsa classes.
Insider Tip:
