Simon James Design
Since starting out with a pop-up store in 1998, Simon James has evolved into a furniture design powerhouse. At his Upper Queen Street showroom, he showcases the clean-line aesthetic of his own work, champions other New Zealand designers, and plays host to the work of international designers such as Tom Dixon, Established & Sons, and Mattiazzi. And then there’s Resident, the collaborative furniture and lighting brand James works on with a collective of local designers (including Nat Cheshire, Jamie McLellan, Cameron Foggo, Phil Cuttance, and Gidon Bing), experts in architecture, furniture, and product and ceramic design. Look out for the award-winning Parison pendant light by Nat Cheshire for Resident at Odettes restaurant.
