Aspen
J-Bar
Aspen, CO, 81611, United States
Housed inside the upscale Hotel Jerome, the J Bar has been serving drinks for more than 100 years, even during Prohibition. The bar has a tin ceiling, a handful of dark wood tables, and a few barrels adding to the western look. Drinks include specialty cocktails like the Aspen Crud, made popular during Prohibition when bartenders would sneak bourbon into milkshakes and a number of local draft beers. The J may be known as a bar but also serves food; their most popular menu item is the famous half-pound, customizable burger topped with everything from poblano chiles to fried eggs.
Insider Tip:
Arrive by 6pm if you want a spot at the bar—locals report this is where all of the action takes place; table seating is plentiful, though.
