Asmalı Mescit

Asmalı Mescit

Lining the narrow, labyrinthine streets behind the Çiçek passage off İstiklâl Caddesi are hundreds of bars, taverns (called meyhane), and outdoor cafés. Join the parade of merrymakers snaking through the neighborhood on summer nights, and visit hot spots like KV, a romantic restaurant with live jazz performers and sophisticate-filled outdoor tables; or Refik, a longtime haunt of the city’s leftist intellectuals. There’s no telling what sort of musicians will be onstage at Babylon—the live acts range from Cuban rap to Turkish folk music—but the club will definitely be packed with hip types swigging the signature Absinthe Ferrari cocktails. After your bar-hop, end your evening with a stroll up the vibrant İstiklâl Caddesi, where you’ll jostle through crowds of rowdy locals, blaring record stores, and street vendors selling everything from lottery tickets to roasted corn cobs.
