Things to do in Aruba

You can keep busy on this Caribbean island even if you only came here to lie on the sand and try your luck at some roulette. But there are other worthy things to do in Aruba. The California Lighthouse, located near Arashi Beach, is named for an old shipwreck called California. It has views over the flat land stretching all directions, and on a clear day you can see all the way to Oranjestad. One of the most interesting things to do in Aruba is to step back into its colorful history. Fort Zoutman dates back to the 18th century, and its Willem III Tower was built to warn of approaching pirates.

Be sure to visit the Aruba Historical Museum while on the premises and study how the mix of African, European, Caribbean and indigenous cultures created Aruba’s unique character. Whether you explore by kayak, snorkel or scuba, the waters of Aruba hold colorful marine life as well as shipwrecks beneath the surface. What to do in Aruba if you don’t want to work that hard? Take a glass-bottom-boat tour, or even a submarine tour to see wreckage well below the surface.
