On the south coast of Antiparos in the Cyclades, Vassilis Germanopoulos runs this small, traditional lodge of eight rooms and duplexes. Each comes with a kitchenette, handmade furniture, folk art objects, and whitewashed walls with blue trim, but the key feature is the covered outdoor terrace overlooking the bay and the islands beyond. Water-sport equipment, including kayaks, is available for exploring the sea caves girding the island, and Germanopoulos will arrange bike and scooter rentals upon request.

Insider Tip:
A few miles north, in the center of the island, stands the cave of Anitparos, with some of the best spelunking in Europe. The enormous 45-million-year-old stalagmite at the entrance is continent’s oldest.
