Located in a small alley by an Amstel canal, this elegant French restaurant reflects the English heritage and Japanese culinary training of its chef-owner, Jean Beddington. Dishes like pheasant in miso gravy or seared tuna steak with horseradish and wasabi sauce are representative of the thoughtful, prix fixe menu that changes regularly. The pace is unhurried and dishes are served artfully, in restrained amounts, on simple white plates. The open kitchen can be viewed from the the dining room, which is small and intimate, and includes a black-on-white color scheme and soft lighting.

Insider Tip:

The dining room, with its narrow dimensions, closely set seating, and quiet ambiance, is ideal for couples and small parties, though less-so for larger groups.
