Amsterdam
Lute Suites
Located in the village of Oudekerk aan de Amstel, this renovated row of 18th-century buildings houses seven, apartment-style suites overlooking the Amstel River. Traditional brick exteriors are contrasted by functional, design-heavy interiors—clean mixes of wood, marble, and steel with pop touches, like a wall-size flower canvas or tile mosaic, that are set against wood beams and steeply pitched ceilings. The property is owned by chef Peter Lute, whose Lute Restaurant is located on the premises and whose wooden box of breakfast items, including fresh breads and fruit, is delivered to each suite daily.
Room to Book:
The design of Suite Five is particularly novel—the bathroom takes up the entire mezzanine floor, the bedroom is tucked behind a metal screen of flowers, and there are views of both the Amstel River and the central courtyard.
Insider Tip:
Bikes can be rented on-site to travel the bike path that runs along the Amstel River, spanning from the village to Amsterdam.
