Artful cocktails designed by expert mixologist Todd Thrasher are PX’s hallmark, like Gimme S’More (chocolaty brown and swirled white, torched on the edges like meringue) and the clear-amber Smoker’s Delight (bourbon, Virginia honey, and lemon juice with a bit of Old Virginia tobacco infusion). Drinks are made with hand-squeezed juices, and bitters and tonic that are concocted in-house. Instead of a sign, this 1920s-style speakeasy in Alexandria’s Old Town uses a blue coach light shining from a brick building on King Street. The classic woodwork, crystal-drop white chandelier and white-upholstered wooden chairs warrant dressing up.
