Created in 1968, this nonprofit organization aims to make theater, music, and dance more affordable and accessible to everyone by subsidizing admission to hundreds of Broadway, Off-Broadway, Off-Off-Broadway, and regional productions. Since its founding, the Theatre Development Fund has subsidized 900-plus plays and musicals, enabling more than two million people a year to see shows like Chicago, Catch Me If You Can, and the New York City Ballet. Nonmembers can purchase tickets at up to 50 percent off from one of the company’s TKTS discount booths, which are located in Times Square, South Street Seaport, and downtown Brooklyn.
