SkyTrain is a driverless, fully automated mass transit system serving the metro Vancouver area. The first of its kind, the train began running in 1986 and is one of the longest such systems in operation. All three SkyTrain lines run mostly on elevated tracks above the city and offer a high-frequency service, with trains arriving every three to five minutes. Two lines, the Expo and Millennium, run from downtown to Burnaby, New Westminster, and Surrey, while the Canada line runs from downtown to Richmond and Vancouver International Airport. A single fare includes 90 minutes of hop-on, hop-off service.
