Two Amys
Washington, DC, 20016, United States
As genuine an Italian pizzeria as you'll find this side of the Atlantic, Two Amys has a wood-burning oven, a pizza license from Naples, and suitably enthusiastic crowds that often raise the noise level to fortissimo. The pizza they line up for is Neapolitan-style, simple and chewy with a lightly charred, handmade-looking crust, and the toppings are strictly traditional: tomatoes, mozzarella di bufala, eggplant, and basil. Beyond pizza, the kitchen turns out a variety of simple antipasti, like salt-cod croquettes, oven-roasted olives, and suppli—crunchy-fried soft rice balls with a dab of mozzarella at the center.
Insider Tip:
Well-hidden tables on the deck in back are a quieter alternative to the main dining room.
