Les Cocottes de Christian Constant
Named for the small round iron and enamel pots in which dishes are both cooked and presented, the tiny Les Cocottes specializes in seasonal fare like crab and sucrine lettuce or shoulder of lamb confit with potatoes. At $23 each, these creations of Michelin-starred chef Philippe Cadeau are a steal; this, his fourth venue on the same street, is a chic take on an American diner, and all food is served at a single long counter with stools. There are also espressos, omelettes, rich chocolate desserts, salads, and a small retail area where you can buy gourmet jams and the namesake cocottes.
Since it’s almost impossible to make reservations by phone, it’s best to show up early for lunch or dinner; off-hours (between 2 and 8 p.m.) are also a good bet.
