6th Arrondissement (St.-Germain)
Tough to beat for ambiance, this hip and lively Spanish restaurant on the banks of the Seine brings a bit of old Madrid to the city of lights. With an eye towards authenticity, chef proprietors Alberto and Vanina Herráiz have imported heavily from the old country, everything from the restaurant's Iberian cured ham and manzanilla sherry to its illustrated menus and hand-designed tables. The menu is orthodox, as well, and it includes inventive Spanish tapas, seven different kinds of paella, and an assortment of Spanish wines.
Look for the secret utensil compartments built into each table.
