Jardin des Plantes
The Jardin des Plantes, one of the most renowned botanical gardens in Paris, was founded as a medicinal garden by King Louis XIII in 1635. Located in the Fifth Arrondissement, the 60-acre park is home to the Natural History Museum, as well as a small zoo, which was founded in 1795 to house animals from Versailles. The botanical gardens are categorized into several divisions, including the Alpine Garden, which features over 2,000 species of plants, a rose garden, and a garden of peonies. With plenty to see and do, the Jardin des Plantes is an ideal family attraction.
