Chapeau Melon
Founded as an organic wine shop that later added a supper club for friends, Le Chapeau Melon ("the bowler hat") in Belleville is now a restaurant that stays true to its oenophile roots and to the refined palate of chef and sommelier Oliver Camus. Surrounded by wine, the dining room constantly reminds of this shop-cum-restaurant’s priorities, but that’s not a bad thing. A la carte two nights a week and prix fixe the others, the menu has everything from Japanese-inspired entrées such as ginger oysters to Italianesque pork carpaccio. An enthusiastic following has developed, so make reservations.
Insider Tip:
Explore Belleville’s winemaking history: There’s still a vineyard at the nearby Parc de Belleville.
