Tour operator Azores Getaways is offering a vacation package that you’ll want to know about — but it’s only available for a limited time.

Starting at $499 per person (based on double occupancy), you can get round-trip tickets from Boston to Terceira Island on Azores Airlines; a 7-night stay at Hotel do Carocol, a breezy inn on Terceira’s Silveira Beach; and free breakfasts and airport transfers.

The deals are best during the “height” of low tourism season, but the famously temperate climate of the Azores means that an April (or even January!) trip will be beautifully mild.

An outcropping of nine volcanic islands in the Atlantic, the Azores are a territory of Portugal, about 1,000 miles off the European continent.

The area's stunning landscapes, with active volcanoes and near-tropical sandy shores, have long been a draw for European visitors. But few in the U.S. know this island paradise can be reached in as few as five hours from major North American cities.

With natural hot springs, windswept beaches, and secluded hiking trails, the Azores are quickly being recognized as a premier wellness destination — with the spa resorts to prove it. Included in the package are two massages — a holistic essential oils massage, and a hot stone massage using the volcanic basalt native to the islands — as well as access to the hotel’s wellness center and outdoor pool with a view of the Atlantic.

And during your stay you can take advantage of the other wellness and cultural experiences available in Terceira. There’s the nearby town of Angra do Heroísmo, the historical capital of the archipelago, that’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Other highlights are Praia da Vitória, a beachside fishing town with an active social scene, and the Algar do Carvão (the “cavern of coal”), one of the most physically stunning of the island’s many volcanic caves.

Azores Getaways can also help organize outings like a nocturnal boat tour around the island, or scuba expeditions to take advantage of the islands' famous diving spots.

Be sure to make your reservations now. With Delta beginning direct flight service in May 2018, the Azores are a destination on the brink of major popularity. Reservations can be made on the Azores Getaways website through December 14.
