Guess Where? Heart Reef

201103-b-guesswhere-83jpg

This lovely reef may be one of the most photographed in the world, but do you know where it's located? Now since you guys have guessed everything so easily in the past, I want to make this harder for you. This time, I not only want to know where it is, but also the name of the country's capital city. Do you know?

Log in and leave your guesses below and check back on Monday for the answer!

UPDATE 2/13/12: Ysaac andLingLing08 both guessed this one right. This heart-shaped wonder is located in the Great Barrier Reef near the Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Queensland. (And the capital of Australia is Canberra!)

Blurb Mobile’s Photography-Sharing App

Jim Lanahan

Innovator Jim Lanahan

Who He Is: When online custom book publisher Blurb wanted to build its mobile division, it tapped Jim Lanahan, a former photojournalist and early adopter of digital photography, for the job. Lanahan had previously helped to develop Apple’s original digital photography strategy in the early 1990’s, playing a big part in making it the go-to company for graphic designers and photographers.

His Big Idea: Blurb Mobile (free) is an app that lets iPhone and iPad users create beautifully packaged picture-and-video slideshows, then instantly share them not only with other Blurb Mobile users, but also on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Tumblr—all in just a handful of simple steps. How simple? Lanahan’s 81-year-old father quickly mastered it, so he could share his travel photos on the fly.

Victor Enrich's City Portraits: Move Over, Koolhaas?

tongues

Like the products of an architect’s fever-dreams, the buildings in Victor Enrich’s city portraits morph and strain and sprout new wings that defy logic and gravity. His 3-D illustrations transform cityscapes from familiar boxiness into something distorted and slightly giddy. Yet when one considers some of the outlandish real-world structures that have sprung from the imaginations of big-name designers like Norman Foster, Frank Gehry, Rem Koolhaas, and Santiago Calatrava, perhaps former architecture student Enrich (with a well-connected and -caffeinated publicist and a budget, of course) could be the next urban design visionary?
