Guests of Honor: New Hotel Clubs for Kids

New hotel clubs and programs for kids and families seem to be popping up everywhere. Fairmont properties in Miami, Hawaii, Bermuda, Singapore and other cities around the world have introduced the R.U. Ready? series, motivating kids to make friends and keep in shape through outdoor relays and competitions and active indoor video and computer games.

Atlantis Bahamas opens the 8,777-square-foot AKA, or Atlantis Kid Aventures, at the end of this month, featuring a LEGO inspired construction zone with the brand’s latest toys, culinary programs for aspiring little chefs, twelve gaming stations, and even a Victorian-era kitchen set up for tea parties and piano lessons. Most of the club is a kid’s only zone too, though children wear identy bracelets that are equip with GPS-like tracking devices so parents can keep a close, virtual eye on them anywhere in the entire resort.

Finally, the Ritz-Carlton Naples Beach Resort has two kid-friendly draws. Nature’s Wonders, an interactive aquatic life center featuring native plants, fish, and amphibians from Florida’s Everglades, was recently recognized by the American Camping Association (it’s the only hotel property that has ever received ACA accreditation). Also, the resort’s brand new Vue Room, a high-tech entertainment space, has the latest computer and video games, featured on XBoxes, Wii consoles, and Apple computers.

Great Value Tip: Book a room at the Beach Resort’s sister property, the Ritz-Carlton, Naples Luxury Golf Resort, where accommodations are about half the price, and you'll still have access to the beachfront Ritz-Carlton Naples’ amenities and restaurants. Shuttles between the two properties run all day, every fifteen minutes.
