Damon and Cheadle Vacation at Clooney’s Italian Villa
What do George Clooney, Matt Damon, and Don Cheadle have in common? Aside from being A-list Hollywood hotshots, the three co-starred in the high-stakes Oceans trilogy—Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve, and Ocean’s Thirteen—each cast as professional thieves you couldn’t help but love, and admire.
So after working together so much, it’s no surprise that the friendly trio enjoys time off-set. Their latest adventure? A trip to Laglio, a waterfront town in northern Italy set against the backdrop of dramatic Lake Como, where George just happens to own 19th-century vacation home, Villa Oleandra.
Matt and Don both arrived with their families at their side—Matt with wife Luciana Bozan and three-year-old daughter Isabella; Don with longtime companion Bridgid Coulter and their two daughters, Ayana Tai and Imani. I wonder if George’s new boo—30-year-old Elisabetta Canalis, host of MTV Italy’s Total Request Live—was there for the festivities. The two have been dating for about a month now, and the UK’s Daily Mail got their hands on some photos of the couple boating on Lake Como this week.
While I can’t claim to know what exactly was on their itinerary during last week's trip, I can’t help but hope they took a jaunt some 12 miles north and across the lake to the town of Bellagio. The town does share its name with the Las Vegas hotel their Oceans' characters robbed in the first film, so it only seems fitting, no?
A more likely scenario is that the clan spent lots of downtime enjoying the lake, and at least one night dining in Como at Il Gatto Nero, a trattoria rumored to be a favorite local spot of George’s.
