Gin & Joysticks: A Night at the "Barcade"

A round of Ms. Pac-Man with that negroni?

These new bars serve up a sidecar of arcade nostalgia. Bring quarters.

In hip-kid Downtown L.A., Eighty Two mixes 40 vintage video games (Frogger; Street Fighter II) with inventive tipples, including a menu of spiked cold-brew coffees.

Brooklyn-based Barcade just opened a Manhattan outpost, in Chelsea, bringing its trademark mix of craft suds and retro hits (Donkey Kong; Galaga) along with an expanded menu of pub grub.

Ditch decorum at Washington, D.C.’s interactive Thomas Foolery, where Price Is Right–style competitions can win you discounted drinks and hopscotch and limbo keep the atmosphere zany.

Foosball; air hockey; shuffle-puck bowling—Emporium Arcade Bar’s new location in Chicago’s Logan Square is a temple to table games. Channeling the neighborhood’s urban lumberjack vibe: a massive canned beer list.

Yahtzee, anyone? Toronto’s new bi-level tavern Snakes & Lagers has a library of 250-plus board games to go with pork belly bánh mì and a diverse selection of Canadian drafts.
