Beauty Road Test: Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm

Are the latest beauty and wellness products worthy of a spot in your teensy carry-on? T+L Associate Editor Kathryn O’Shea-Evans shares her take.

The product: Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm, $36

Pros: New from Tatcha: an impeccably-designed glass vial of lip balm, made with antioxidant-rich camellia oil (a onetime favorite of Oshima Island geishas, apparently) and…..wait for it…24-karat gold.

Cons: The 24-karat gold leaf layer is uber-pretty, but because it’s layered on top of the balm, it will rub away completely after a few uses. Fortunately, the remaining balm is lovely on its own. Those geishas knew their stuff!

Verdict:  Packable.
