A Travel-Themed Baby Shower

Baby showers aren’t typically something we cover here at T+L, but I went to an adorable one recently that I simply had to write about. The excited parents-to-be are major globe-trotters, and so the theme chosen by the hostesses was, fittingly enough, Tiny Traveler.

The décor—little
airplanes adorning the walls; adorable valises filled with prizes—and
games—match the celebrity baby to the country he or she was adopted from; point
blind folded on a map to the place the couple hope to take their son to first
(Italy)—had a global flair to them, but the real star of the afternoon was the
delectable lunch spread.
Sushi, pasta salad, quesadillas, kebabs, hummus, and
more represented different countries, while little flags declaring “delicious!”
in their respective languages (lazeez, muy delicioso, mazedaar...) embellished
each massive platter. Dessert was a decidedly French affair, with trays of
madeleines, macaroons, and eclairs—but the crowning glory was the epic cake.
The delicious vanilla-buttercream confection came in the shape of a suitcase
with a fondant baby and camera perched on top (top). So cute! Perhaps this would make
for a good shower concept for the jet-setting soon-to-be mommies among you?
Congrats Tina and Arif, can’t wait to meet your little globe-trotter-to be!
