Denver Deals via Text
By now, most cities in the States have developed a mobile app or two to help visitors navigate via their smart phone or iPad. But Visit Denver, the official CVB of the Mile High City, has something even cooler up their sleeve. While many web-savvy travelers are familiar with online deal sites, like Groupon, Visit Denver developed the “Denver Deals” program to deliver deals from area businesses via text message.
While I’m glued to my desk in New York for the moment, I tested out this new program—the first of its kind—to see what they had to offer.
I texted “Denver Deals” to 63638 and within a few seconds my inbox had two new messages:
“Show this text at Banana Republic, Denver Pavilions and receive 25% off $100 or more. Banana Republic, 500 16th St, 303-825-1488”
“It’s Taco Tuesday! Show this text for $1 tacos and $4- 12oz margaritas on the rocks. Text LSQ EAT to 63638 for more deals, Lime, 1414 Larimer St, 303-893-5469”
I wish I were in Denver. I could use a few tacos and a drink. And for $6! That is a deal.
To see additional offers, just text "MORE" to the same number:
I got 10% off at Violet, a cute boutique on Larimer St. and any time happy hour pricing at Euclid Hall (1317 14th St.; 303/595-4255), which includes $3 draughts, $3 house wine and $3 well drinks.
While standard carrier rates apply, the program sends texts only if you request them. While I’m a fan of online deal sites, I like the directness of this texting program—no apps to download, no clogged email box. Hey, NYC. Can we get this?
