NYC Wants Its Rude Rep Back

201012-w-afc-rudestjpg

David vs. Goliath.

Cain vs. Abel.

Tyson vs. Holyfield.

Sure, those fights were pretty epic, but they pale in comparison to one battle that has been going on since the dawn of time…or, y’know, for a few decades. Or something. I’m talking about the duel between NYC and Los Angeles.

Residents from the bicoastal cities historically have been actively engaged in an extreme competition to be the best of the best. But a new blog, based in of one of those cities (New York), is beginning a campaign to win a different, seemingly unexpected title: rudest.

Yep. Rudest.

Inspired by the results of the T+L America’s Favorite Cities survey, the creator of this blog was incensed to learn that LA nabbed the least friendly position this year. (Over the years, the two cities have flip-flopped between least and second least-friendly.) But if this website—whose tagline is “Tweet your rudest NYC moments…to help reclaim the title belt.”—has its way, NYC will never again rank anywhere but dead last in the Friendly category. Or, to put a cheery spin on it, NYC will always win the title of rudest American city.

The blog is pretty new (just three days), but I’m already kind of in love with it. It’s sort of an Overheard in the Office, but the stories here will be a collection of rude happenings witnessed throughout the city. (And if the stories that have already made it to the site are any indication, I have a feeling L.A. won’t stand a chance next year! Go NYC!)

So definitely check out the blog and experience the beauty that is NYC at its finest. And share your stories with them via Twitter or e-mail. www.rudenyc.tumblr.com

(Oh, and don't forget to vote when the next iteration of the survey launches this summer to make sure NYC is back on top...err, back on the bottom!)
