Hotel Spotlight: Ritz-Carlton's Hotel Arts Barcelona
Awe-inspiring Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi may have some competition and it comes in the form of the Hotel Arts Barcelona. The five star Ritz-Carlton owned luxury hotel boasts a soaring 44 stories designed by iconic Chicago architect Bruce Graham. Stay in one of the nearly 500 rooms (or 28 very exclusive duplex apartments) with panoramic Mediterranean views and only a sunny jaunt away from the shore. When you can pull yourself away, zip around Barcelona in one of the hotel’s smart cars, complimentary as part of the Club Level package.
The Spa by Six Senses offers not one but two floors of total relaxation, including
a color therapy steam room and an ice fountain. As
if that’s not enough? Lifestyle maven and GOOP editrix Gwyneth Paltrow herself has gushed, “I adore the Arts. It is a big
hotel done RIGHT. Amazing views, beautiful rooms, great service.”
New this fall is Frank’s Bar, christened after the inimitable architect Frank Gehry. The Bertita Margarita, their signature cocktail, is named for Gehry’s wife and pairs Patrón Silver, Cointreau and fresh lime juice. Not your cup of tequila? Stop by one of seven other bars and restaurants, from Enoteca (boasting a 450 label wine cellar), to Arola (headed up by a disciple of the famed Chef Ferrán Adria of El Bulli). Enjoy an indulgent brunch at Café Veranda and then retire poolside for an afternoon siesta and drinks. Bertita Margarita, anyone?
